Budgeting Tips: Small Changes, Big Savings
Between groceries, kids' activities, school expenses, and everything else life throws your way, family budgets can get stretched pretty thin! The good news? A few small changes can make a difference. Plan meals around what's on sale, shop secondhand, take advantage of store rewards, and get creative with DIY gifts or regifting. Setting a budget for extras (including those holiday expenses that sneak up every year!) can also help you stay on track without missing out on the fun.

Giving Back: Helping Our Neighbors
A strong community is one where neighbors look out for one another! Whether it's donating outgrown kids' clothes, dropping off pantry staples, volunteering your time, or participating in a holiday giving program, there are plenty of ways to make a difference. Giving back doesn't have to cost a lot of money, either. Get the kids involved in choosing items to donate or finding small ways to help others. It's a wonderful way to teach generosity while showing them what community is all about.
Our favorite places to donate clothing & household items: Blind Community Thrift, Isabel's House, Complete Electronics Recycling, Sammy's Window, Habitat for Humanity Restore, Salvation Army, Harmony House, The Kitchen
Check out this list of places the whole family can volunteer (will be updated for 2026 soon!)

Check out free library programs, community festivals, park activities, seasonal celebrations, and family-friendly events on the Macaroni KID calendar. As the holidays approach, keep an eye out for tree lightings, parades, and festive community gatherings, too. Sometimes the best family memories are the ones that cost the least!
